As the year comes to an end, we begin to reflect back on everything that has happened at Hexagon Geospatial. So many great things were accomplished in 2015, from hosting two HxGN LIVE 2015 events—one of which was the first-ever HxGN LIVE in Hong Kong—to the launch of the Hexagon Smart M.App® platform, to establishing several new content partnerships, and let’s not forget the start of the Hexagon Geospatial Community!

Hackathon: Keeping the Innovation Moving
After the annual Power Portfolio release, it was time to begin brainstorming new ideas and take a fresh approach towards the next release. What better way to do this than to organize a hackathon? The Hexagon Geospatial office in Poland organized Mobile and WebGIS teams to collaborate in planning, designing, and coding to create working prototypes.
New Zealand Police Awarded for Smart Client-Based Real Time Mapping Solution
New Zealand Police won the Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Award for utilizing real-time mapping solutions based on GeoMedia Smart Client. The solution was developed by Intergraph SG&I, now Hexagon Safety and Infrastructure, and allows officers to access volumes of data from anywhere, at any time. With this solution, New Zealand Police are able to stay on top of situations occurring around them at all times.

Australian Electricity Utilities Sector Update: New Opportunities Driven by the Move from ‘Gold Plated’ to ‘Make Do with Less’
With energy prices skyrocketing for consumers in Australia, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) imposed financial cuts for utility companies to bring down the cost of electricity. Utility companies are now forced to “make do with less”, however, geospatial cloud technologies provide a promising outlook. Will Australian utility companies move towards GIS offshoring to help reduce costs?
Webcast: Reporting Property Conditions with Mobile Alert
Hexagon Geospatial teamed up with leading property information provider, Courthouse USA (CUSA), to create a 30 minute webcast on Mobile Alert, a solution which can be customized to report property conditions. Mobile Alert allows anyone to use their GPS-enabled smartphone to report incidents around their neighborhood, as well as property conditions in a matter of seconds.

Optimized Permitting and Routing of Oversize and Overweight Vehicles
Due to the large number of oversize and overweight vehicles traveling on Oklahoma’s interstate and highways, there was an urgency to improve the state’s permitting system to maintain public safety and customer satisfaction. The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety worked with Hexagon Safety and Infrastructure to create a solution based on a foundation of Hexagon Geospatial products, called OkiePROS.
