Ukraine Geospatial Conference Encourages Optimism

In accordance with its tradition, Ukraine’s government remains proactive within the geospatial community. Its open and innovative attitude paves the way forward for many agencies and private companies to actively contribute to a bright future for this country.

TVIS LogoIn May 2015, TVIS-INFO LLC (TVIS), one of the leading geospatial and GIS solutions providers in Ukraine, teamed up with Hexagon Geospatial and many other international partners to present “Advanced GIS/RS technologies in Ukraine,” for the fifth consecutive year. The international conference took place in Kiev, Ukraine and brought together over 330 industry professionals of GIS and remote sensing fields from different countries around the world. Event attendees included more than 180 companies, remote sensing data users, commercial and government companies, municipal land, space and military authorities, as well as surveying, mapping, agricultural and environmental organizations.

During the conference, special seminars were held for a number of government and volunteer groups. Geospatial intelligence experts, AIRBUS Defense and Space, presented on how to use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Hot topics included the issues of implementing UAV technologies, along with local experience of building UAVs. Additional conference programs consisted of presentations from worldwide remote sensing data suppliers, image processing techniques from ERDAS IMAGINE specialists, and 2015 software products from Hexagon Geospatial, such as ERDAS IMAGINE, ERDAS APOLLO, and IMAGINE Photogrammetry.

The optimism and innovation displayed by the conference attendees was amazing. We look forward to continuing to work together to identify and inspire intelligent geospatial solutions across the region.
