A: I was born in Yokohama, Japan and grew up in Chiba, Japan.
Q: Where did you attend school and what did you study? Why did you choose this subject?
A: In 2014, I graduated from the University of California with a major in Physical Geography. I chose this subject because I wanted to use my environmental knowledge and work at a space agency.
Q: Where do you currently work? What is your job? What are your responsibilities?
A: Once I completed school I started working in the Satellite Business Division at PASCO Corporation in Tokyo, Japan. Currently, I am an engineer, mainly working for the Defense and Space industry, in the Satellite Imagery and Geospatial Intelligence department.

A: For most nations, using geospatial information is still a small portion of business market research. I would like to change that. This motivated me to create a Smart M.App that can have a large impact by helping international companies. These companies can help spread ways to use geospatial information across the globe.
Q: How did you hear about IGNITE?
A: The Japan Intergraph Corporation informed me about the IGNITE competition.
Q: Why are you excited about this competition?
A: I am excited to see how people in this competition and other people around the world can utilize the Smart M.App platform for improving the world.
Q: What is the problem your Smart M.App addresses?

Q: What is the name of your Smart M.App?
A: I named our Smart M.App, “Smart Port.”
Q: What IGNITE Theme does it support?
A: Our Smart Port Smart M.App addresses the Finance theme by Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) information collected by satellites or land stations near international ports.
Q: What does it do?
A: Our Smart M.App shows worldwide statistics for vessels around ports and informs us about the economic scales associated with them. It will serve international companies such as automotive companies, steel companies, or oil companies that trade their products at ports.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish with your Smart M.App?
A: I hope someday our Smart Port Smart M.App impacts the world. International organizations, corporations or governments can use our application for measuring the flow of goods and money worldwide, which can enable better decision-making for people.
