HxGN LIVE 2017 Wrap-Up: Escaping the Flatlands

It’s been another exciting week as HxGN LIVE 2017 wraps up in Las Vegas! It was a fun and informative week, packed with hands-on training, breakout sessions, keynotes, technology showcases, and networking opportunities.

HxGN LIVE 2017: Training and Talks

We got the week started with hands-on training taught by our experts. This year the Geospatial Track offered an abundance of informative training sessions covering topics from the Power Portfolio Suites to M.App X to Hexagon Smart M.Apps and M.App Enterprise.

The week continued with breakout sessions featuring stories brought to life by our customers and partners. We saw incredible stories about how people from across the world are using Hexagon Geospatial technology to shape smart change. In addition to a number of product updates from our development teams, we heard presentations about Smart Cities in India, how Hexagon Geospatial software helps improve Defence intelligence and readiness in Norway, monitoring for floods in Greece, and new several innovations in making use of the Copernicus data.

One of the week’s highlights was the special luncheon session featuring Kevin Hope, Director of NGA Foundation GEOINT. Mr. Hope discussed Foundation GEOINT’s integral role at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and how the agency uses geospatial data to adapt to rapidly changing environments.

Escaping the Flatlands: GSP Keynote

Wednesday’s highlight was the Geospatial Track Keynote, “Escaping the Flatlands” with President Mladen Stojic. Mladen discussed escaping the flatlands of static maps into a world of dynamic information communication. During his presentation, Mladen discussed several inspiring projects from around the world that illustrate new ways to visualize and make sense of complex information. He discussed how to make cities smarter, actionable intelligence for defense, and how geospatial technology continues to evolve to fit customer needs. The keynote also featured a special appearance by Kevin Hope, Director of NGA Foundation GEOINT. If you missed the keynote, be sure to watch it online.

M.Appathon 2.0

This we brought back the M.Appathon, v 2.0. We invited attendees to build their own Hexagon Smart M.App. We provided them with training, licenses, and a space in the zone where they could collaborate with each other and product experts. We had over 15 people participate, and in just over three days, most of them had built functional Smart M.Apps. The winner got a free year of access to the M.App Studio so they can continue creating Smart M.Apps. Watch for more information on this year’s version of the M.Appathon.

As always, we were happy to record a number of TV interviews with our customers. Ranging on topics from Smart Cities to talking with the IGNITE winners, be sure to browse the shows and see the diversity of applications from Hexagon Geospatial technology.

And of course, one of the most valuable pieces of the conference is the interactions with you, our customers. We value the time we get to spend in the exhibition hall having conversations, showing off the new and upcoming features in our technology, and hearing about how you use the software and listening to your stories about how you and your organizations are escaping the flatlands.
