Great Start to 2015 at India Geospatial Forum

Last week saw the conclusion of India Geospatial Forum 2015, the yearly premier event in the Indian subcontinent for the geospatial community. The event usually held in the month of February marks a great beginning for the year and helps all stakeholders – be it the government or the industry or professionals draw a future vision. Hexagon Geospatial engaged with the community helping them understand the benefits of the all new Power Portfolio. The products under the Power Portfolio 2015 are in fact suitable for the entire geospatial lifecycle — data creation, storage, management, retrieval and more importantly, integration with various industry workflows.

Tackling climate change, importance of spatial data management, digital India initiative and Smart Cities were some of the key discussion drivers at the conference. Smart cities track was particularly important given India’s interest in development of Smart Cities. According to Kaushik Chakraborty, Vice President, Strategic Alliances and Global Business Development at Hexagon Geospatial, “Aerial technology, especially airborne LiDAR coupled with high resolution aerial imaging, helps in creating accurate 3D base maps for multiple application projects. This is quite relevant in the scenario of smart cities, where integrated and updated base maps are needed.” Experts from Hexagon Geospatial also underlined the importance of adherance to standards for seamless data usage.

Our booth served as a learning hub for industry professionals throughout the event. Visitors had an enriching experience with live demonstrations and hands-on experience sessions.

One more attraction was the #WindmillContest for the booth visitors. All the visitors had to do was to click selfies and share them on their social networks. Daily winners were chosen and were awarded attractive prizes!

Overall it was a great experience being at India Geospatial Forum 2015 and talking to professionals working in different industries but yet connected by the geospatial element. For those who could not attend India Geospatial Forum, there’s another big opportunity coming up – Hexagon’s Annual Event, HxGN LIVE. Register before 23 February 2015 to take advantage of Early Bird rates.
